Happy World Intellectual Property Day!<\/h1>\n<\/div>

On 26 April each year, World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated to raise awareness of intellectual property rights and how patents, trade marks, designs and copyright play an important role in encouraging innovation and creativity.<\/p>\n

This year the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is exploring how innovation is improving our lives – making them\u00a0healthier, safer, and more comfortable,\u00a0and how those working in the creative sector can be properly compensated for their work so they are encouraged to keep creating. You can find out more about this year’s theme here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

World Intellectual Property Day was created by WIPO in 2000, to celebrate the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies around the world. 26 April was chosen as the date for World Intellectual Property Day as it is the date that the founding convention, which established WIPO, came into force in 1970.<\/p>\n
